Ron Mello Studio Arts

Initially inspired by the original brushes of the late  Keith Lebenzon, all Ron Mello Brushes are unique, handmade and one-of-a-kind. Like Keith I also have an extensive background in Art Education. Having taught art in public schools as well as a professor of ceramics at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts for almost 40 years. Unlike Keith who stopped ceramics when he started making brushes I still create ceramic vessels and sculptures.

Some of my brushes lean more to sculpture but, all are FUNCTIONAL..  My brushes, for the most part, designed for water base media. They will perform differently depending on the consistency of the media used.  They are suitable for most ceramic slips, glazes and under glazes, ink, water color or acrylics. The test examples on the following pages are done with water based media and ceramic glazes on paper. Test images are often repeated for very similar tips..   Click here for Brush usage and cleaning information
